Free Dating: Are MySpace and Facebook Free Dating Sites?

If you have ever surfed MySpace or Facebook, then you have experienced a new form of dating service. However, they are not called a dating service. In fact, the idea of these sites is to bring people together to share information, journals, blogs and videos. These are sites intended for people to have their own free space online to upload pictures and write about a variety of topics. How then, did an essentially public forum turn into a network for free dating?

The major answer to this question is in the amazing volume of people from all over the world who use Myspace and Facebook. The millions of users come into contact with one another on a daily basis. In the end, these contacts may yield available individuals looking for a date. The entire site has become one big, fat, free online dating hub, but unfortunately there are some serious concerns to using a Myspace or Facebook account as a dating medium.

Dating services use different types of screening devices and questionnaires before a person searches or places personal ads. This is a precaution that some dating sites take to ensure that married individuals looking for an affair are not listed as single. Adult dating personals, on websites such as Adult Friend Finder, are not concerned with this step as they feel it is up to each individual to make the decision on the status of the person they are seeking.

Other dating websites use “personality” proven tests in order to narrow down the list of available individuals looking for a date that match in that aspect. The number of people using Myspace can seem outrageous if you are trying to search for a person with similar interests, who is also available. You might want to consider this fact before deciding for the free service vs. having to pay for a membership.

The benefit of using Myspace as a relationship dating service is not as attractive when no one can view your information or photos. This can work to your advantage if the relationship did not turn out so good and you wish to no longer give permission for them to view your webpage. Admittedly, the same can be done with other dating services by blocking a particular member.

Even though there are times when finding a partner can seem impossible, many people are finding matches. Myspace or Facebook may work for you. If they do not, there are other online dating services that could work better for you. Just take every posting and personal ad with a lightly and carefully. You do not have to have love at first sight. You can meet the person and discover whether or not they are the special one for you.
